Brrrr… Feel that? That’s the chill Summer left when the door slammed as it left the building.
It gets harder and harder these days to rip myself out from the warm blankets. On the mornings when we get up a little too late for a proper breakfast I like to whip up some of Bob’s Red Mill’s Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal.
In one day I made 6 different batches of scones. SIX. And I taste-tested four of them. Yes, I’m woman enough to own up and admit that I ate 4 scones in one day. I wear my hobbit-like tendencies with pride. 🙂
Regrettably, it’s been 2 months since my last recipe post. It seems like just yesterday I was knee-deep in a heavenly pizza binge. Alas, the goin’ has gotten tough. And when the goin’ gets tough, the tough get chocolate milk. Because, duh.
Back in high school I was quite the wannabe Betsy Homemaker and one of the first things I decided to tackle was pizza dough. While it was everything I’d always dreamed of before (why don’t pizza places offer pepperjack cheese? It’s seriously amazing on a pie!), when I look back my dough could’ve been a little more refined.
When it comes to brownies I’m not hard to please, though I do have a few stipulations that can usually be applied to most baked goods in general.
First things first, they cannot be described as having a “crust.” I will suck it up and eat most anything out of desperation, but if a brownie has crispy, brittle, dry edges I’ll probably cry and think about how much I wish I wasn’t eating it (but will still eat it).
